Manchester City striker Antoine Semenyo has expressed confidence in teammate Erling Haaland, saying the Norwegian simply needs 'one to get going' after a rare dip in form.
Haaland has scored only twice in his last 11 appearances across all competitions, a stretch that contrasts sharply with his usual prolific output.
Despite this quiet period, he remains the Premier League’s top scorer with 20 goals in 24 matches this season.
Speaking to CBS Golazo, Semenyo described their on-field rivalry as healthy and motivating.
“Listen, I mean, we’ll wait and see because he’s a goal machine. All he needs is one to get going,” Semenyo said. “So, I mean, it’s, like I said, healthy competition, but it’s good we’ve got two top goalscorers, I should say, in the same team.”
Semenyo’s comments underline the mutual respect between the pair, emphasizing that their competition benefits Manchester City rather than creating tension.
The Ghanaian forward insisted that having two in-form strikers in the squad strengthens the team’s overall attacking threat.
Semenyo has four goals and one assist in five games for Man City.
