Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has held talks with deputy captain Thomas Partey as part of Ghana’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The meeting took place in Spain on Wednesday, just hours before Villarreal’s UEFA Champions League fixture against Bayer Leverkusen. Sources close to the discussions described the talks as positive, with Addo stressing the importance of maintaining physical condition, discipline and focus ahead of the World Cup.
Addo has been touring Europe to monitor Ghanaian players and engage them directly as he builds momentum towards the global showpiece in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
The engagement with Partey forms part of a broader effort to strengthen unity and shared purpose within the squad. Addo has also held discussions with key players such as Jordan Ayew, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku and Mohammed Kudus in recent weeks.
Partey later featured for Villarreal, coming on at the start of the second half in their Champions League match against Bayer Leverkusen, which ended in a 3-0 defeat.
Ghana have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia for the 2026 World Cup.
