Former All Blacks head coach Ahmed Fathi has dismissed reports suggesting that his resignation is motivated by an approach from Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko.
The Egyptian tactician stepped down just a few days ago, sparking widespread speculation about his next destination.
Speaking on Akoma 87.9 FM, Fathi was clear in rejecting claims that discussions have taken place between him and the Porcupine Warriors.
“If this is about claims that someone from Asante Kotoko has contacted me, as being reported in the media, then I must state clearly that it is not true,” he said.
Fathy stressed that the rumours currently circulating are not based on any concrete developments.
“Everything being said at the moment exists only in the media. I am, however, proud and honoured that my name is being linked with a big club like Kotoko, but as it stands, there has been nothing official,” he added.
His comments appear to pour cold water on speculation linking him with a move to Kumasi. However, many remain baffled by his surprise decision to resign as All Blacks head coach.
