The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has lifted the curtain on the Technical Study Group (TSG) responsible for identifying the standout performers at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
These experts, chosen for their experience and insight, play a crucial role in deciding the tournament’s Man of the Match awards and recognizing individual excellence.
The 12-member panel is led by Jaida Zakaria, CAF TSG Manager, and Belhassen Malouche. From their Rabat headquarters, the team combines on-site observations with advanced technological tools, including real-time video analysis, performance databases, and statistical platforms that track both tactical and physical metrics. CAF says the group’s work ensures a rigorous and objective evaluation of every match.
Among the panel are two Moroccans: Jamal Fathi, National Technical Director and head of training at the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), and Sahid Dahbi, FRMF video analyst. Their inclusion highlights the host nation’s role in shaping the tournament’s technical assessments.
The TSG also features continental football figures such as Aliou Cissé, who led Senegal to the 2021 AFCON title; Clémentine Touré, who guided Equatorial Guinea to a continental triumph in 2008; and former Mali national team coach Mohamed Magassouba.
Throughout the tournament, which enters its quarter-final stage on January 9 in Tangier and Rabat, the TSG will combine live match observations with in-depth data analysis to identify players who have the most decisive impact on games.
Their assessments will culminate in naming the tournament’s standout performers when the competition concludes on January 18.
