Jordan Ayew is hoping Leicester City can build momentum after a dramatic 94th-minute winner from Abdul Fatawu secured a vital 2-1 Championship victory over West Bromwich Albion.
The Ghana forward struck a stunning volley in stoppage time to snatch all three points on a tense night at the King Power Stadium, where fan protests and freezing temperatures left large sections of the 32,000-capacity ground empty.
Leicester have been inconsistent this season, winning only two of their last five league games, and currently sit 12th in the Sky Bet Championship with 37 points from 26 matches.
Ayew, who opened the scoring for the Foxes by linking up with Jordan James to finish from close range, urged his side to focus on the future.
"We need to start the year well, and you know, what happened is in the past. We need to focus on what's ahead of us, and today was the first step. Hopefully, we can go on a run," he said after the game.
West Brom briefly equalised through Karlan Grant before the break, curling home a precise finish on the counter-attack. The visitors dominated possession in the second half, creating multiple chances, including an Isaac Price effort that struck the post, while Leicester keeper Jakub Stolarczyk produced a series of crucial saves.
Fatawu’s last-gasp strike, however, turned the game on its head, keeping Leicester’s hopes of climbing the table alive and providing a timely morale boost as Ayew and his teammates look to kickstart a positive run in the Championship.
