2025/26 Ghana Premier League: Week 13 Match Preview - Medeama vs Berekum Chelsea 

Medeama missed a valuable opportunity to climb to the summit of the Ghana Premier League last weekend when they surrendered a two-goal lead away to Asante Kotoko. On Sunday, they return to the TnA Stadium in Tarkwa determined to put that setback behind them as they host Berekum Chelsea.

This fixture reunites the two sides just six months after their last league meeting, which Berekum Chelsea won 2-1. Medeama, however, approach the contest in strong overall form. Draws against Bechem United and Kotoko stretched their unbeaten run to nine matches, a sequence that has underlined their growing momentum under Ibrahim Tanko.

Berekum Chelsea travel to Tarkwa after earning a draw against Samartex in their previous outing. While they continue to show intent going forward, their defensive struggles remain a concern. Tanko is not underestimating the visitors’ threat. Speaking to Medeama TV, he said: "The approach is the same like any other game. We are playing at home. We want to control the game. We want to create more chances to score goals. So there’s nothing new. We knew they are the ones who beat us here last year. So definitely we are going to prepare well for them, and we need the three points of course."

Head-to-head history favours Berekum Chelsea. Since September 2022, the teams have met six times, with Chelsea winning five of those encounters. Medeama have managed just one victory during that period, scoring three goals compared to Chelsea’s eight.

The hosts sit second in the table with 23 points from 12 matches, level on points with Aduana FC. Berekum Chelsea lie 14th with 12 points. With contrasting ambitions but equal urgency, Sunday’s contest presents Medeama with an important chance to reinforce their title charge, while Chelsea seek a statement result to ease their struggles.
