Black Queens head coach Kim Bjorkegren has reaffirmed his commitment to Ghana’s women’s national team, insisting he has no intention of leaving his post.
The Swedish coach, appointed earlier in 2025 to replace Nora Hauptle, guided the Black Queens to a bronze medal at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, Ghana’s first podium finish since 2016. He has now led the team to qualification for the 2026 edition of the tournament in Morocco.
Bjorkegren, who signed a two-year contract with the Ghana Football Association, revealed that he turned down several offers before taking the job, driven by his belief in the team’s potential.
"I can be completely honest; I had another 14 offers when I signed for Ghana, and I did that for a reason," he said. "I want to be here in Ghana because I think I can help the girls and make a little bit of a difference. Together, I think we are on the way to something really, really good, and we already showed that in the summer. So I’m here to stay with the girls."
Bjorkegren’s comments will come as a major boost to the Black Queens’ rebuilding process as they continue preparations for the international friendly against England in December and next year's continental tournament.
