Karim Zito
Coach Karim Zito has been named head coach of AshantiGold SC, just 15 days after stepping down from his role at Asante Kotoko SC.
Coach Zito resigned from Kotoko following a difficult spell that saw the Porcupine Warriors record only one win in six matches. His swift return to the dugout signals AshantiGold’s ambition to secure promotion back to the Premier League.
The experienced tactician is expected to lead the Miners until the end of the current campaign, although the exact length of his contract has not been disclosed.
AshantiGold currently sit top of Zone 2 in the Division One League with 40 points after 20 matches, placing them in a strong position in the promotion race.
Zito boasts an impressive résumé in Ghanaian football. He guided Dreams FC to FA Cup success in 2023 and a historic semi-final appearance in the CAF Confederation Cup. He later repeated FA Cup glory with Kotoko and went on to lift the Toyota Cup, Super Cup and President’s Cup during his tenure.
His appointment is seen as a major boost to AshantiGold’s push for top-flight football next season.
