Ernestina Fosuh and Abusuapanyin Kofi Owusu
Elder sister of late highlife legend Daddy Lumba, Ernestina Fosuh, has dismissed reports suggesting that the upcoming Celebration of Life event for her brother has been halted by a court injunction.
In a press statement dated February 15, 2026, and issued by the family’s press secretary, Ms. Fosuh described the circulating claims as false and misleading. She stated unequivocally that there is no injunction stopping the event and confirmed that the Celebration of Life in Accra will proceed as planned.
The statement also addressed what she described as a deeply hurtful rumour — that she had the opportunity to see her brother after his passing but declined.
Ernestina firmly denied the allegation, explaining that she went to the Transition Funeral Home at Haatso with her lawyer and four others but was denied access.
According to her, the funeral home management informed her that the Abusuapanyin had instructed them not to grant her entry.
She further revealed that she sought legal redress at the High Court in Accra in a bid to secure the opportunity to see her late brother before his burial.
Although an injunction was initially granted, she said it was revoked within an hour and a half, with the court demanding GH?2 million within two hours before close of business that Friday.
She described the experience as one of the most painful moments of her life.
Despite the emotional ordeal, Ernestina Fosuh affirmed that the family remains resolute. She assured the public that the Celebration of Life for Charles Kwadwo Fosuh will take place on March 28 and 29, 2026, in Accra, and called for unity and respect as the family prepares to honour the memory of the late music icon.
The statement follows reports that an Accra High Court granted the family of late Highlife icon Daddy Lumba permission to file an injunction to stop a planned “second funeral” in his honour.
The application was brought by Lumba family, led by Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu, against Evangelist Papa Shee, Akosua Serwaa and others said to be organising the event.
