Stakeholders in the banking sector have commended the Bank of Ghana (BOG) for its strong leadership in providing innovative solutions to meet the evolving needs of clients as well as contributing meaningfully to the economic development of the country.
The sector players who made the commendation during the commissioning of the newly constructed Bank Square for the Bank of Ghana, said the state-of-the-art infrastructure will serve as a reference for sustainable financial development, not only for Ghana but for the sub-region.
Speaking at the commissioning in Accra, Governor of the Central Bank of West African States, Jean-Claude Kassi Brou, said BoG’s vision aligns with the Central Bank of West African States’ vision aimed at creating a critical infrastructure, adopting innovative technologies to promote financial inclusion and integration.
He said their shared vision is rooted in the mutual determination to strengthen the collective capacity to address contemporary economic challenges in order to promote monetary and financial stability, economic growth and regional integration in West Africa.
He congratulated the Central Bank’s Governor, Dr. Ernest Addison, for his leadership and dedication to Ghana’s economic and financial progress.
“This new headquarters is an expression of your effort, your ability to rally energies, inspire your team and reinforce the Bank of Ghana’s position as a solid and internationally respected institution,” he indicated.
Mr. Kassi Brou further assured the public of the Bank’s readiness to continuously work together to reinforce its excellent collaborative relation with BoG in order to promote financial stability, support economic growth as well as strengthen regional integration in West Africa.
Minister of Finance, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam said the strong collaboration between the Ministry of Finance and the Bank of Ghana has played an important role in steering the country out of the economic crisis the country faced recently.
He also attributed the successes chalked by the Bank of Ghana which includes economic growth and investment in human development with strong impressive performance across key financial ratios to President Akufo-Addo and the Governor of the Bank of Ghana.
President of the Ghana Association of Banks (GAB), Kofi Adomakoh, on behalf of the Association lauded the Bank of Ghana for their support in navigating the difficult moments,disruptions and challenges the financial services sector has encountered in the last few years.
Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Ernest Addison said over the past 67 years, the core functions of the central bank have expanded, both in terms of scope and number of functions, following the fast-changing domestic economic landscape and increasing integration with the global financial architecture.
While thanking President Akufo Addo for the immense support provided to the management of the bank, Dr. Addison also expressed delight to see the completion of the building during his tenure.
