Voting has started across all the 204 polling centers in the Ejisu Constituency of the Ashanti Region to elect a new Member of Parliament (MP) to replace the late MP who was also a Deputy Finance Minister, John Kumah, who passed away on March 7, 2024.
Six candidates, including three independent candidates, are competing in the much-anticipated by-election.
The constituency has a total of 106,812 registered voters who are expected to cast their ballots today.
One of the notable candidates in the race is the former three-time NPP MP for the constituency, Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, who is running as an independent.
Despite allegations and accusations of betrayal, Aduomi has expressed optimism about his chances of winning the by-election.
Before the commencement of polls, a heartwarming moment was observed.
The electorate are so much determined to exercise their franchise as many are seen pouring out in their numbers.
The Ejisu by-election is seen as a crucial test for the political landscape in the region, and the outcome will be closely watched by both local and national observers.
