The newly enstooled Development Chief
A 37-year-old woman, an indigene of the Nzema East Municipality of the Western Region, has been enstooled as the Development Chief of Edelesuazo, a farming community in the municipality.
Judith Korsah, who is currently the Community Relations Liaison Assistant at the Ghana National Gas Company, used to be the Special Assistant to the former Minister for Tourism and Creative Arts, Catherine Afeku. Her stool name now is Nana Nokowah Adjoba I.
The spectacular coronation witnessed rich cultural display, traditional drumming and dancing, and an Asafo display to the admiration of all.
Dignitaries, including Catherine Afeku, who is also a former Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Kofi Arko Nokoe, the current MP, the Divisional Police Commander, Isaac Kofi Sorpka, all Divisional Chiefs and their Queens from both Lower and Upper Axim, graced the coronation.
The Divisional Police Commander, Isaac Sorpka called on the newly enstooled Development Chief not to take any initiative that would add to the numerous chieftaincy issues in the Western Region but rather work hard to ensure peace and development in the area, as her title connotes.
He advised the people to be mindful of their security and report suspected criminals to the police for quick responses.
Catherine Abelema Afeku, the parliamentary candidate of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the area, charged the newly enstooled Development Chief to aim more at improving girl-child education, particularly, in the area of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
She donated 10 sewing machines to support female apprenticeship training in Edelesuazo, which will soon be rolled out by the newly enstooled Development Chief of the community.
The newly enstooled Development Chief, Nana Nokowah Adjoba I, thanked her family and the community for the confidence reposed in her.
“Let us all stay united to ensure the community enjoys it current relative peace, for the area to see the needed developmental projects,” she appealed.
Nana Nokowah Adjoba I, has already rolled out an apprenticeship programme for 20 females in the community.
