At the basic school level, Presby Experimental Primary won the category, followed by The Littleway Primary School and St. Joseph Primary School.
The event also featured vibrant cultural performances by various groups, showcasing traditional dances, colourful attire and local crafts to highlight Ghana’s rich cultural heritage and promote domestic tourism.

The parade brought together metropolitan security commanders, religious leaders, heads of departments, assembly members, teachers, students, development partners, youth groups and representatives from the informal sector.
Speaking after the event, the Mayor of the Tamale Metropolis, Alhaji Abubakari Adam Takoro, commended teachers and parents for instilling discipline and patriotism in the younger generation.
He said the celebration offered an opportunity for reflection on the sacrifices of the country’s forefathers in the struggle for independence.
Mr. Takoro said government had introduced a number of initiatives to support education, including the establishment of a Students’ Loan Trust Fund office in Tamale to ease access to financing for tertiary education in the northern sector.
He urged prospective tertiary students to take advantage of the facility to support their education.

Touching on infrastructure, he said the Assembly had supplied 1,170 dual desks, 1,450 mono desks and 480 tables and chairs to junior high schools in the metropolis.
He added that work had begun on the construction of a six-unit classroom block with ancillary facilities at St. Paul’s Basic School at Gumbihini; a three-unit classroom block at Datoyilli JHS; and a kindergarten block with an office and store at Lamashegu South Primary School “B”.
Mr. Takoro also called for continued cooperation with security agencies to maintain law and order and address the growing abuse of hard drugs among the youth in the metropolis.
He further noted that the National Sanitation Day exercise had been launched and would be observed on the first Saturday of every month to promote environmental cleanliness and improve public health.
According to him, the initiative would help rid communities of filth and unsanitary conditions and contribute to a cleaner and healthier environment.
