The Obuasi Trade Show Consortium, organiser of the annual Obuasi Trade Show, has announced that this year’s edition will be one of the most exciting since the event began in 2019.
At the media launch, Consortium Board Chairman Aboagye Ohene Adu said valuable lessons from previous editions have shaped what promises to be the most impactful Trade Show yet.
He explained that beyond the vibrant trade and exhibition activities, a rich programme lineup has been designed to offer an unforgettable experience for both participants and visitors.
Mr. Ohene Adu commended AngloGold Ashanti for its unwavering support, emphasising that the Trade Show has played a major role in expanding businesses within Obuasi. He encouraged residents and business owners to take full advantage of opportunities the event presents, stressing that the ultimate aim is to diversify and strengthen the local economy.
Scheduled for December 17 to 20, 2025 at Black Park near Len Clay Sports Stadium, the Obuasi Trade Show has grown remarkably since its inception under AngloGold Ashanti’s 3-Year Social Management Plan (SMP 2019–2021). What began as a modest exhibition has evolved into a powerful economic development platform, earning a permanent place under the company’s 10-year Socio-Economic Development Plan (SEDP 2022–2031).
This year’s edition is backed by a strong partnership involving the Obuasi Municipal Assembly, Obuasi East District Assembly and Akrofuom District Assembly, with strategic support from AngloGold Ashanti Obuasi Mine, Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) and other key collaborators. GEPA’s participation for the first time is expected to significantly boost exhibitor skills, particularly in product packaging, branding and meeting global market standards.
Addressing participants at the launch, Community Relations Manager-AngloGold Ashanti, Edmund Oduro Agyei, described the Trade Show as a major catalyst for Obuasi’s economic transformation. He reaffirmed the mine’s commitment to sustaining the initiative as part of broader efforts to diversify the local economy.
Mr. Agyei pointed to the remarkable progress the Trade Show has achieved over its years. More than 1,000 businesses have undergone training, with AngloGold Ashanti investing over GH?1.8million directly into MSME development. These interventions have created over a thousand direct and indirect jobs and supported the establishment of more than 160 new businesses – strong evidence of the Trade Show’s growing influence on Obuasi’s economic landscape.
He urged residents and entrepreneurs to seize opportunities the 2025 edition presents, noting that the event continues to serve as a springboard for business growth and a driver of long-term development in the municipality.
