Zenith Bank (Ghana) Limited has kicked-started the 2024 festive season with its annual light-up ceremony and carols night, transforming the Zenith Heights and the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) enclave.
The light-up ceremony has become a tradition for the bank since its initiation in 2018, reflecting on their commitment to celebrating communities while inspiring many other institutions to also light up their premises and different cityscapes in Ghana.
Speaking at the ceremony in Accra, the Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Zenith Bank Ghana Limited, Henry Onwuzurigbo, said: “This event celebrates the birth of Christ, a symbol of hope and renewal and it reminds us of our unity as a people and the strong bond we share with the communities we serve”.
Mr. Onwuzurigbo revealed that beyond a festive tradition, it also serves as a reminder of the resilience that defines Zenith Bank Ghana.
“As we light up Zenith Heights and the Kotoka International Airport enclave tonight, let these lights serve as a symbol of hope, unity and the promise of a brighter tomorrow. Let them remind us of the resilience we have shown and the aspirations we carry into the new year,”he mentioned.
The light-up ceremony also serves as a celebration of the beginning of the Christmas season – the birth of Christ, symbolising hope, renewal and the enduring light that unites them as people.
As part of its commitment to expanding its reach and bringing services closer to communities, the bank has opened three new branches this year in Madina, Techiman and Ashaiman.
In the area of corporate social responsibility, it supported institutions such as the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and Ho Technical University with laptops and desktop computers.
In addition, Zenith Bank extended its partnership with the West African Senior Secondary School Examinations where for the next five years, the bank will be rewarding the Overall Best Student of the West African Senior Secondary School Examinations with a cash prize and computer to aid in their tertiary education.
Another social intervention programme is the provision of protective shoes to 1,000 underprivileged children in various locations where the bank operates.
Zenith Bank’s innovative products and services have earned the institution numerous local and international awards. These include Bank of the Year (Ghana) at the 2024 Banker Awards by The Banker Magazine, Best Bank (Ghana) and Best SME Partner Bank at The European Awards, Best Mobile Banking App and Best Financial Inclusion Service Provider at the Digital Banker Africa Awards, and Technology-Driven Bank of the Year at the Ghana Information Technology and Telecom Awards.
