World Vision Ghana, Polytank Ghana partner to improve access to clean water

World Vision Ghana and Polytank Ghana Limited have entered into a partnership aimed at improving access to clean water, sanitation, and sustainable development in communities across the country.

The collaboration was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that combines Polytank’s expertise in water storage solutions with World Vision’s focus on community empowerment.

The partnership will address public health challenges and enhance environmental sustainability in vulnerable regions, with an emphasis on creating long-term, impactful solutions to improve livelihoods and health outcomes through sustainable water management.

Key areas of collaboration include Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) initiatives, community development, corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities, and public health promotion.

As part of the agreement, Polytank Ghana announced plans to provide water storage tanks to 13 communities in the Ahafo Region, covering Asunafo Municipal, Goaso, Asutifi North, Ahafo Kenyase, and Goaso municipalities.

These tanks, with a combined storage capacity of approximately 45,000 liters, will benefit local communities, schools, and healthcare facilities by improving access to safe and reliable water supplies.

The Interim National Director of World Vision Ghana, Jean-Claude Mukadi said “This initiative reflects our shared commitment to enhancing the well-being of children and families, fostering healthier communities, and building resilient futures.”

Mukadi also emphasized that the partnership aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 6, which seeks to ensure the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.

He observed that water is essential to life, but noted that many people in underserved regions of the country face daily challenges in accessing clean water.

Given this, he asserted that World Vision Ghana together with Polytank are prepared to transform these challenges into successes.

“Through this partnership, we will ensure that the 26 storage tanks provided by Polytank are strategically distributed to communities, schools, and health centres in critical need of clean water solutions,” he stated.

Furthermore, he reiterated that the joint efforts in WASH initiatives will enhance public health outcomes, promote environmental sustainability, and empower community members to take charge of their own development, further advancing the targets set under SDG 6.

The Business Head of Polytank Ghana and Kenya, Girender Mohinani, outlined the company’s ongoing commitment to supporting sustainable water access.

“Over the years, Polytank Ghana has been assisting farmers, schools, hospitals, and other institutions to ensure sustainable access to potable water. As conversations about water become increasingly crucial, especially in rural and vulnerable urban communities, we recognize our responsibility to contribute meaningfully to this cause,” Mohinani said.

He emphasized the importance of clean water, saying “Water is life, but at Polytank Ghana, we say clean water is life. That’s why we are prioritizing this partnership with World Vision Ghana—not just to provide durable water storage tanks but to ensure the water flowing through them is clean, safe, and reliable.”

Mohinani acknowledged the challenges posed by high water turbidity levels and contamination in some water sources, reaffirming the company’s commitment to advocating for safe and accessible water for all.

“This partnership is especially timely as we work together to address these pressing issues, ensuring communities have access to solutions that promote health and safety,” he added.
