About 250 participants of ‘Sinapa Aba Women Mentorship’ program have graduated successfully after going through a rigorous six months training at Tamale.
This is the fifth cohort since the program started. It provided participants with practical skills in financial literacy, leadership, customer service, marketing, and business planning.
These skills would help the participants build sustainable businesses that can contribute significantly to household incomes and the country’s economy at large.
Even though it is dubbed “Women Mentorship Program, this fifth cohort saw 17 men participating fully.
This gender-inclusive initiative underscores Sinapi Aba’s emphasis on gender equality in business. Women entrepreneurs, particularly those from underserved communities, often have fewer opportunities for formal education or professional development.
Therefore, the mentorship program provided participants with a platform to not only learn but also network with other business owners, creating a community of support and shared knowledge.
Participants of the training gained critical insights into financial management, such as budgeting, pricing strategies, and securing loans for business expansion.
Additionally, the program delved into marketing techniques, enabling female participants to better position their products and services in competitive markets.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony held in Tamale, Chief Programs Officer, Sinapi Aba, Joyce Owusu-Dabo, expressed excitement saying the program has already made an impact in the businesses of the participants.
According to her, there have been reports suggesting significant improvement in the business operations of participants. These are in the areas of enhanced customer satisfaction, streamlined financial processes for better profitability., increase in staff strength, confidence in business and social management.
She further mentioned that going forward, Sinapi Aba intends to continue fostering a strong network of entrepreneurs who can mentor others, creating a ripple effect of empowerment and growth.
About
The Sinapi Aba Women Mentorship Program was founded on the belief that entrepreneurship is a powerful tool for improving livelihoods and fostering economic development, especially for women. In many developing economies, women are the backbone of small-scale commerce, yet they face unique challenges that hinder their business growth. Limited access to capital, inadequate training in business management, and social constraints often leave women entrepreneurs operating below their potential.
In all, about 1000 women and men have benefited from this novel and noble program.
