The lights are let out
Electricity Comes and Goes
It’s Either Candle or Generator
It’s either torchlight or daylight
It’s a grim message to dim our lights
A sunny message of light
Beautifully presented by mother nature
So to dim a crisis of power
And prices of power
Power that came from energy
Energy that sprang from everything
Everything that burst forth
From raw wood
And from charcoal to a hot flame
Let there be light
Energy that was born from blowing wind
And from flowing water
Winding to grind grain
Lifting to raise a building to the roof
Moving to haul people and goods
Let there be light
Energy that transmits everywhere
Into plants and into trees
For animals and for humans
To live and to thrive
To grow and to survive
Let there be light
Energy that makes everything happen
To change from a form to another
To create into existence
To dissolve out of existence
Let there be light
Energy that emits from the sun
The sun that provides heat and light
For all to feel and see
The sun that imparts all the energy the earth receives
Energy that reaches the earth through space
Energy that gives life to plant and animal
Let there be light
Energy that rises from coal and oil and natural gas
Energy that make up fossil fuels
Fossil fuels that foist their own foibles
Once they burn, they run out
Let there be light
Energy that flows from the renewables
Renewables that originate from hydroelectric
Renewables that generate from geothermal
Renewables that emanate from wind
Renewables that radiate from solar
Renewables that never run out
Let there be light
Energy that radiates from solar has the brightest story to tell
A story to tell about an alternative source of energy
A story to tell about an affordable means of energy
Let there be light
A sunny message of light
Beautifully presented by mother nature
So to dim a crisis of power
And prices of power
Let there be light
And-there-was-light!
From an alternative energy source
…solar power
