Ghana Reinsurance PLC has conferred awards on the insurance underwriters and brokers who have proved exemplary in their performance and conduct with regards to the business they do with them. The awards – the 14th edition of an annual event – were conferred at a special Cedants Awards Night, during which key industry stakeholders also discussed strategic issues facing the industry under the theme ‘The Global Macroeconomic Situation and its Impact on the Insurance Industry”.
Welcoming participants and awardees to the event, Ghana Re’s Deputy Managing Director for Finance & Administration, Mr. Joseph Adom, asserted that the programme “is one of the most important events in Ghana Re’s calendar as it is an occasion where the company publicly recognises and acknowledges, through the presentation of these awards, cedants’ exceptional performance, loyalty and commitment to its success. The aim is to motivate cedants who have made notable contributions to the growth of the company within a financial year, precisely 2022 for this particular event”.
With regards to General (non-life) Business, first prize went to Enterprise Insurance Company; 2nd prize went to Hollard Insurance Ghana; while 3rd prize went to Millenium Insurance Company.
Under this category, the awards for premium payments went to Allianz Insurance Ghana while the award for contribution to the growth of Ghana Re went to Ghana Union Assurance Company. The award for prudent underwriting was conferred on Activa International Insurance Ghana while the award for loyalty went to Best Assurance.
The first prize under the Life Business category went to Metropolitan Life; the second prize went to SIC Life Insurance; while the 3rd prize went to Ghana Union Assurance Life Company.
With regards to Life Business, the award for premium payments went to Allianz Life Insurance Ghana, while the award for contributions to the growth of Ghana Re went to Sanlam Life Insurance Ghana. The award for prudent underwriting went to Prudential Life Insurance while the award for loyalty went to MiLife Insurance Company.
The other category under which awards were conferred was for reinsurance brokers. 1st prize went to KEK Reinsurance Brokers; 2nd prize went to Visal Reinsurance Brokers; and 3rd prize went to J.B. Boda Insurance and Reinsurance Brokers.
Ghana Re is the largest reinsurer domiciled in Ghana although it faces stiff competition particularly from foreign reinsurers active in the Ghanaian market.
