Founding President of IMANI Africa, Franklin Cudjoe has said that Mr Richard Jakpa should not be the one to lead national security operatives to raid the homes of past government officials.
He says that so far, the searches in the homes of the past officials, however warranted, seem to be quite above board.
“Once more, I’m worried that the searches, however warranted, seem to be quite above board. . The majority leader had to apologise to former finance minister, Ken Ofori-Atta for the raid on his house. I really don’t think Jakpa should be leading these raids lest we all believe he is out to revenge. He seems to be in an excessively aggressive mood. Not good,” he posted on Facebook.

Reacting to the raid on the home of former Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr Ernest Addison, Dr Theo Acheampong said that Mr Rochard Jakpa who is reported to have led the raid should be called to order.
In a post on his Facebook page, he said “Richard Jakpa and others like him must be called to order! The collective fight is against jungle justice and impunity. Don’t destroy the goodwill.”
A Civil society activist, Dr Steve Manteaw has also opposed to the use of National Security operatives to settle personal scores.
He makes the point that the use of national security operatives to settle personal scores is evil and a complete affront to Ghana’s democracy.
In a Facebook post, he said “This blatant use of National Security to settle personal scores must stop. It’s evil and a complete affront to our democracy.”
Franklin Cudjoe, Dr Theo Acheampong and Dr Manteaw were reacting to the allegation that Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin made that some money could not be found after Richard Jakpa led national security operatives stormed the home of former Governor of Bank of Ghana Dr Ernest Addison in Roman Ridge, Accra, on Wednesday, March 19.
The operatives reportedly disabled the CCTV system before conducting their search.
“Some GHC10,000 on his bed could not be found. So some of these hungry party foot soldiers they use who parade themselves as National Security Operatives are after all perhaps not being paid, and they use this opportunity to steal,” Afenyo-Markin claimed.
He added “The governor’s wife’s earrings and necklaces were also not traced. They couldn’t be found. In other words, those operatives stole these earrings and necklaces. Ghana is a matured democracy, and we should do better.”
