The Head of Communications and Public Events at Charterhouse Productions, Robert Klah, has provided reasons why music enthusiasts and fans did not see Ghanaian music duo, DopeNation nominated for any category in this year’s TGMA.
Mr. Klah disclosed that DopeNation failed to submit their song(s) for nomination into any category despite their hit song “Zormizor” released for the year under review.
In an interview on Daybreak Hitz on March 20, Robert Klah noted that following DopeNation’s failure to file nominations, the organizers reached out to the artistes but did not receive any response.
“One would expect that on a platform like this, in the year under review, their place would certainly be established. Unfortunately, when there was no filing and we tried to reach out for consent, we couldn’t get it,” he explained.
However, DopeNation has explained why they decided not to file for nominations after a tweet from DJ Slim. DJ Slim wrote, “I’m hearing, you guys didn’t file for nominations and when the research team picked up your songs, you guys were not responsive to the award scheme. How true is this?”
In response, DopeNation stated, “We have been battling a lot that can’t be said out of respect for some people in this hypocritical music space. However, can we all recall from 2021? Maybe some of us will know this is not just about awards, Sir. Gradually, this industry will be losing its ‘TRUE ARTISTS.’”
