Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has urged MPs to back the approval of the 2025 budget estimates to allow government implement important economic policies meant to promote growth.
Addressing MPs at the opening ceremony of the 2025 Post-Budget Workshop on Saturday, March 15, Dr. Forson emphasized that the support of the MPs is necessary to operationalize the measures set out for achieving fiscal growth and stability.
“We have outlined a number of revenue and expenditure measures in the 2025 budget to support the achievement of our fiscal objectives and targets. And we would like to call on this esteemed House, particularly my colleagues, the Members of Parliament, to support these measures and the passage of the various legislations that will operationalise the measures as soon as possible.”
He further outlined key initiatives like the Agriculture for Economic Transformation, the creation of the Ghana Gold Board, the Big Push project and the 24-hour economy designed to drive sustainable economic growth.
“Some initiatives that we have proposed for implementation in this budget are as follows: we are proposing to roll out the 24-hour economy policy to support inclusive growth and job creation. We also propose to roll out the GH¢10 billion Big Push policy beginning this year.
“We are proposing the establishment of the Ghana Gold Board to support foreign exchange inflows and gold reserve accumulation to benefit our dear country,” Ato Forson said.
The Finance Minister’s appeal comes as Parliament deliberates on the budget, with expectations for bipartisan support for a smooth implementation of these economic measures.
