Dr. Frank Amoakohene, the Ashanti Regional Minister, has responded to the collapse of a bridge on the Asante Mampong-Ejura Road at Sataso.
In a statement, Dr. Amoakohene revealed that his attention was drawn to the incident, prompting him to dispatch a team from the Assembly and the Highway Authority to assess the situation and initiate reconstruction efforts immediately.
The collapse of the bridge has left hundreds of commuters stranded, causing massive gridlock on the major road. Dozens of vehicles transporting food from Ejura to Kumasi were stuck on the road, with commercial drivers forced to abandon their passengers at the edge of the collapsed bridge.
Dr. Amoakohene appealed to all road users in the area to exercise caution and keep safe while the reconstruction efforts are underway. His prompt response to the incident demonstrates the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of its citizens.
This incident highlights the importance of regular maintenance and inspection of the country’s infrastructure. The government has pledged to fix damaged bridges, including the one on the Kumasi-Mampong-Ejura-Yeji trunk road, which caved in a few months ago.
The Ashanti Regional Minister’s swift response to the bridge collapse is a welcome development, and the people of Ashanti Region look forward to seeing the reconstruction efforts completed as soon as possible.
