The Ghana Police Service has arrested nine suspects in connection with the setting ablaze of the Electoral Commission (EC) office at Ayensuano in the Eastern Region.
This incident is part of a series of post-election disturbances that have plagued the region.
The suspects, whose identities have not been disclosed, were apprehended following a thorough investigation by the police.
This latest arrest brings the total number of individuals detained in connection with post-election violence to 106. All suspects are currently in police custody, assisting with ongoing investigations, and will face legal proceedings in due course.
The police have reiterated their commitment to maintaining law and order, assuring the public that they, along with other security agencies, are dedicated to protecting communities and ensuring peace.
“We wish to once again assure the public that the Police and other security agencies are committed to the protection of our communities to maintain law and order,” stated a spokesperson for the Ghana Police Service.
The police have also called on the public to remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement agencies as they work to bring the perpetrators to justice.
