Nigerian actor Richard Mofe-Damijo, popularly known as RMD, has called on Ghanaians to consider giving the National Democratic Congress’ flagbearer John Dramani Mahama, a second chance to be President.
In an interview with JoyNews’ Doreen Avio on the red carpet of the 2024 EMY Awards held in Accra over the weekend, RMD urged voters to chose someone who will prioritise the interest of Ghanaians.
“I think they shouldn’t make the mistake that Africans want to make. They should vote for the best man, the man who has your back. Not very many people on the election ballot have your back so I think that Ghanaians know the one that has their backs, so they should vote for that person,” he said.
RMD further noted that his Ghanaian friends have also told him about the good works of the former President, citing the building of Terminal 3 of the Kotoka International Airport by John Mahama.
“I have never met him. I just know that every time that I pass through the airport and he built it, and a lot of Ghanaian friends of mine tell me he did a lot of work and I think you guys should give him a chance again and see how far it goes,” he said.
“I like Mahama,” the venerated Nigerian actor said.
Ghana will be going to the polls on December 7, 2024 to elect its President and Members of Parliament for the next four years.
