Amenfi Central: EC will print new ballot papers including Joana Gyan Cudjoe – Tanko Computer

The name and picture of the NDC parliamentary candidate for Amenfi Central, Joana Gyan Cudjoe, has been added to the notice of poll Following the Sekondi High Court’s ruling on Monday November 11.

She will thus be part of the parliamentary election on December 7.

This development comes after the National Democratic Congress (NDC) filed a new application to lift a previous injunction on Joana Gyan Cudjoe.

It’s a significant victory for the NDC and Joana Gyan Cudjoe, ensuring her participation in the upcoming elections.

To get the latest updates on Joana Gyan Cudjoe’s issue, TV3’s Ghana Tonight team engaged Dr. Bossman Asare, the Deputy Chairman in charge of Corporate Services at the Electoral Commission.

And according to him the Commission is yet to receive a copy of the ruling from NDC, adding that “We’re eagerly awaiting the official copies of the court ruling. Once we receive them, we’ll consider permission granted, as we’re a law-abiding organization committed to following the court’s directives.”.

“Currently, we’ve only heard about the ruling through news and media outlets, but once we get the formal documents, we’ll take the necessary steps.” He mentioned.

But in his response the Deputy National Elections Director for National Democratic Congress NDC Dr Tanko Rashid Computer said he is shocked of hearing Dr Bossman saying he haven’t received any copies of the ruling from the party, he argues that “I’m stunned by Dr. Bossman Asare’s claims, especially since I personally handed him and Mr. Samuel Tettey copies of the Sekondi High Court ruling at 4:32 pm today, Wednesday, November 13. He acknowledged receipt and thanked me at 5:42 pm. It’s surprising to hear him say they haven’t received any copy of the ruling”.

“Interestingly, my print agent just informed me that the Electoral Commission has ordered new ballot papers to be printed, including Joana Gyan Cudjoe’s name”.

Meanwhile, the Electoral Commission of Ghana has issued a directive outlining the distribution process of ballot papers to various regions.

This move ensures transparency and fairness in the upcoming elections. According to the Commission’s guidelines, ballot papers will be dispatched to designated polling stations, where voters can cast their votes on election day.

To ensure a smooth voting process, the Commission has also provided detailed instructions on how to vote.

Here’s a step-by-step guide:

– Voting Process
– Go to the polling station with your Voter ID card and join the queue.
– A polling assistant will verify your particulars.
– Receive a Presidential Ballot paper and check for any marks or validation stamps.
– Cast your vote in the designated ballot box.
– Repeat the process for the Parliamentary Ballot paper.

Additionally, the Electoral Commission allows for proxy voting under specific circumstances, such as illness, employment, education, or absence due to personal reasons.

If you’re unable to cast your vote in person, you can apply for a proxy vote through the Commission.

Though Wassa Amenfi Central constituency has long been a stronghold for the National Democratic Congress (NDC). But this year’s election is shaping up to be a thrilling contest.

Incumbent MP Peter Yaw Kwakye Ackah and Karl Mark Arhin are running as independent candidates, while Albert Wiredu Arko represents the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Joana Gyan Cudjoe flies the NDC flag.

Notably, Joana Gyan Cudjoe is the first woman to ever run in this constituency in the ticket of NDC. Will the NDC maintain its grip or will another party break through? December 7 will reveal all.
