Former Minister of Education and Member of Parliament for the Techiman North Constituency Professor Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi, has pleaded with New Patriotic Party’s Polling Station Executives to own up the ongoing electioneering campaign as their win or otherwise partly depends on them.
Professor Ameyaw-Akumfi, a key member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), emphasized the importance of door-to-door campaigning in the upcoming election. He urged polling station officers to actively engage in this grassroots effort in order to secure victory for the party.
He made this appeal in an interview with 3News after a two-day campaign tour of the Bono East Region aimed at canvassing for more votes for Vice President Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP’s Flagbearer and their Parliamentary Candidates.
“The NPP’s flagbearer, Vice President Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumiah, and their parliamentary candidates are counting on the dedication and hard work of polling station officers to help them achieve success in the upcoming election” he emphasized.
During his campaign tour of the Bono East Region, Professor Ameyaw-Akumfi highlighted the significance of personal interactions and direct communication with voters. He stressed that connecting with voters on a one-on-one basis is crucial in winning their support and ultimately, securing their votes.
The NPP key member visited Kajaji in the Sene East Constituency through to Kwame Danso in the Sene West Constituency before wrapping up in the Atebubu-Amantin Constituency.
During the tour he was accompanied by former Member of Parliament for Atebubu Amantin who is also a member of the Party’s Regional Reconciliation committee, the honourable Kofi Amoakohene, the former Bono East Regional NPP Chairman, Mr. Thomas Adu Appiah, former District Chief Executive (DCE) for Techiman North, honourable Peter Mensah and some other Party activists.
Professor Ameyaw-Akumfi had earlier this year donated Motorbikes, Farm inputs and money to all Parliamentary Candidates in Orphan Constituencies in the Bono East Region and on this trip also donated an undisclosed amount of money to support the work of the Polling and Constituency Executives as well as Parliamentary Candidates.
The one-time contestant of the NPP’s National Chairmanship position therefore appealed with the Party Grassroots to intensify their campaigns in these few remaining days to the crucial December 7th General elections.
“I urged you to be diligent in your efforts and to actively participate in the door-to-door campaign for us to attain victory in the elections.”
Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi said he shares in the view of Hon. Kennedy Agyapong that the NPP should refrain from fun-fair campaigns and engage in “one-on-one” or “door-to-door” campaigning because the 2024 elections are very crucial and no stone should be left unturned.
By reaching out to voters at the grassroots level, the NPP hopes to gain more support and secure victory in the upcoming election. Professor Ameyaw-Akumfi’s appeal serves as a reminder of the importance of personal connections and direct engagement in the political process.
