Black Stars vice-captain Thomas Partey was omitted from Ghana’s 2025 Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON) squad for games against Angola and Niger.
Thomas Partey was absent in the last qualifiers after he withdrew from the squad with a “medical issue.”
The Black Stars then went on to draw and lose to Sudan in their doubleheader clash, picking up a point out of the available six; a result which ultimately leaves the team’s chances of qualifying for the next AFCON hanging on a thread.
On Thursday, Thomas Partey, who has captained the team for the most part of head coach Otto Addo’s second coming was omitted from the squad, a decision taken by the coach.
Otto Addo’s decision has received mixed reactions on social media, with some of the view that it was long overdue the coach stamped his authority on the team while others feel the decision was out of place.
Let him know that it is Ghana that needs Partey and not the order way round https://t.co/XULgyuxrUa

It’s good news

Partey shouldn’t waste his time anyways under this experimental coach. He should get enough rest and recover well. My prayer is to see him play another season or two for the gunners.

The best decision Otto has ever made

Ghana needs to win their two games, on November 15 against Angola and November 18 against Niger, while Sudan must fail to pick-up a point in both games for the Black Stars to stand a chance of making it to the AFCON.
