From floor manager to presenting on TV – Gifty Anti reveals her breakthrough story

Renowned Ghanaian broadcaster Oheneyere Gifty Anti has shared her inspirational journey about how she began her career in the television industry.

Her experience, which is characterized by her humility, readiness, and eagerness to take advantage of chances, provides young professionals with insightful lessons.

Gifty Anti stated that her willingness to take on unexpected challenges led to her debut on television.

Although she was originally scheduled to work as a floor manager at the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), she took the initiative to read the newspapers when the producers and presenters were absent.

Speaking in an interview on The Career Trail Show on Joy News, Gifty Anti said her eagerness to take up unanticipated challenges paid off when Beatrice Aidoo, the main presenter at the time invited her to join the set.

“I took up that challenge because I was prepared. I didn’t say that I was going to be a floor manager so what have I got to do with newspapers,” she recounted.

Gifty Anti emphasized the value of humility and a mindset focused on serving others. She noted that she made her unexpected on-air debut by approaching Beatrice Aidoo with respect and a willingness to assist.

“I allowed my upbringing to get the better part of me by getting involved, by believing in service… And I was confident enough to approach Beatrice Aidoo. And I didn’t approach her in arrogance, but in humility,” she explained.

She emphasized how important it is to take advantage of every chance, no matter how small.

She advised youth to become engaged in their surroundings, even if it involves doing duties that aren’t part of their job description.

“Even when you get there and you are going to interview for the manager of the company and you get there and you see the place is dirty and there is a broom there, if you can’t sweep, and you can find out who is the cleaner and you can tell the person… Well, get involved. You never know how far it will take you,” she urged.

The ace broadcaster recounted her story whilst celebrating 27 years in broadcasting.
