The University of Media, Arts and Communication (UniMAC) has announced four key executive appointments, effective Tuesday, October 1, 2024.
Among the notable appointments is Prof. Winston Kwame Abroampa, who has been named Pro Vice-Chancellor of UniMAC.
Additionally, Prof. Christiana Hammond has been appointed Rector of the Institute of Journalism (IJ), while Prof. (Mrs.) Cecilia Addei takes the helm as Rector of the Institute of Languages (IL). Prof. Samuel Manasseh Yirenkyi will serve as Rector of the Institute of Film and Television (IFT).
Speaking on these developments, UniMAC’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Eric Opoku Mensah, highlighted the importance of these appointments for the university’s future.
“The appointment of these accomplished professionals aligns perfectly with UniMAC’s strategic vision of becoming a leading institution in media, arts, and communication education across Africa,” he said. “With their leadership, we are confident that the university will continue to thrive, delivering innovative education and contributing meaningfully to society.”
Prof. Mensah also emphasized the significance of the appointments in promoting gender parity and inclusivity within the university’s leadership. “These appointments also reflect our commitment to gender parity, academic excellence, and inclusive leadership,” he added.
The new leadership team is expected to drive UniMAC’s mission of providing quality education and equipping students with the necessary skills to succeed in the dynamic media and arts industry. Prof. Hammond, the new Rector of the Institute of Journalism, remarked, “It is an exciting time for UniMAC, and I look forward to contributing to the development of a new generation of journalists and media professionals.”
