Manchester United suffered a humiliating 3-0 defeat at Old Trafford on Sunday as Tottenham delivered a dominant performance, intensifying the pressure on United manager Erik ten Hag.
Even without their injured star Son Heung-min, Spurs overran a struggling United side from the outset.
Brennan Johnson opened the scoring just three minutes into the game, finishing off a brilliant solo run from Micky van de Ven, who charged from his own half to set up the goal.
Despite Tottenham’s dominance, they missed multiple chances to extend their lead, with Timo Werner squandering a one-on-one opportunity against Andre Onana.
United’s problems were compounded when captain Bruno Fernandes was shown a red card in the 42nd minute for a reckless challenge on James Maddison. However, even before the sending off, United looked disorganised and outplayed.
Tottenham doubled their lead shortly after the break when Dejan Kulusevski chipped the ball over Onana after another swift counter-attack led by Johnson.
Dominic Solanke added a third goal in the 78th minute, capitalising on a flicked header from Pape Matar Sarr, sealing United’s fate and prompting many United fans to leave the stadium early.
Manchester United have scored just five goals from their first six Premier League games.
Only in 2007/08 have they scored less in that same time frame (4). ???? https://t.co/mw2pjx8Xap
