3Sports journalist Bill Eshun was awarded Disability Reporter of The Year at the 28th edition of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) awards held at the Accra International Conference Centre on Saturday night.
His acclaimed story, “The Jumping Phoenix,” showcased the inspiring journey of a disabled high jumper from Akumfi Atwa in the Central Region, who is striving to become a Paralympian.

Earlier in 2024, the story received international recognition from AIPS, placing Eshun 3rd in Africa and 5th in the world among young reporters.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was the Special Guest of Honour at the ceremony, which was held under the theme: “75 Years of Excellence in Journalism: The Role of the Media in Democratic Governance and Elections.”
