Ghana striker Antoine Semenyo made a great start to the new season for Bournemouth, scoring a late equaliser to secure a 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest on the opening day of the Premier League season.
Semenyo delivered in the 87th minute, capitalising on a defensive error by Harry Toffolo, whose clearance ricocheted off Murillo, allowing Semenyo to tap in from close range and rescue a crucial point for Bournemouth.
Chris Wood had earlier given Nottingham Forest the lead in the first half, but Semenyo’s late strike ensured Bournemouth avoided defeat.
Since joining Bournemouth, the former Bristol City forward has been a vital player, finishing as the club’s second-top scorer last season with eight Premier League goals. With Dominic Solanke now gone, Semenyo is expected to take on an even bigger role this season.
His importance to the team was underlined by the new five-year contract he signed in July, rewarding his consistency and key contributions to the squad.
