After the release of her recent song titled, “DECEMBER”, the young and promising Ghanaian singer, Gyakie, revealed that a heartbreak caused by a loved one was her inspiration behind the song.
On this footing, Onua TV’s Entertainment Presenter, Nana Adwoa Annan, in an interview with the Singer, requested for clarification.
In Twi, a Ghanaian local dialect, Gyakie responded, “se meye nipa”, translated as “I am human”. For her, she is not immune to heartbreak so long as she is a human being like everyone.
Released on Friday, April 5, 2024, “DECEMBER” has recorded over 655,000 views on YouTube in 9 days.
According to the Ghanaian singer, the song is not just another song for entertainment but a true life story; her personal story.
Being disappointed and heartbroken by the actions of a dearly loved one, she stated that she could not enjoy the month of December, 2023, a period of celebration, love, and union, especially in the absence of that person.
This, she explained as why she titled the song, “DECEMBER” which she wrote during her period of recovery.
“Ho! Ho! Ho! Ho! It’s another December without you”, a line in the song confirms.
Gyakie, finally, dedicated the song to everyone who is going through a tough moment by reason of heartbreak from a loved one.
The song continues, “look into my eyes, what you find, what you see, is what you did to me.”
