Barcelona staged an impressive comeback to claim a slender 3-2 advantage over PSG in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final.
Despite facing a daunting atmosphere from the Parisian crowd, Xavi’s Barcelona showcased resilience and tactical acumen, ultimately turning the tide in their favour with effective use of their bench.
The breakthrough came courtesy of Brazilian winger Raphinha, who capitalised on a loose ball to net his first Champions League goal.
However, PSG swiftly responded after the interval, with Ousmane Dembele and Vitinha both finding the back of the net to momentarily put the hosts in control.
Yet, Barcelona’s substitutes played a pivotal role in shifting momentum, with Pedri making an immediate impact by providing a delightful assist for Raphinha’s second goal, superbly volleyed home with the outside of his right foot.
As both sides pressed for a decisive goal, Barcelona substitute Andreas Christensen rose to the occasion, heading home a corner from close range to secure the victory.
With the thrilling encounter poised delicately, the stage is now set for the second leg in Spain on Tuesday, 16 April, promising another enthralling showdown.
