There has been a long-standing land dispute between the people of Bole and the Jahori tribe. A situation which has created tension in the area leading to the two feuding factions issuing threats against each other.
A case was filed against the Jahori’s in 2023 at the Tamale High Court by the Bole Wura Safo Kutugefeso. On February 6 after several months of litigation, the Tamale High Court ruled that Bole Wura has no authority over the Jahori lands.
The court presided over by His Lordship Justice Richard Mac Kogyapwah, as part of the ruling said that Bole Wura Kutugefeso has been restrained from interfering in the peaceful enjoyment by occupants of the lands within Jahori.
“Bole Wura is henceforth restrained, pending the final determination of this suit, to enskin or escort anybody to the area of litigation as a Chief.”
The Tamale High Court accordingly placed an injunction on the land until there is a resolution of the substantive case as regards the rightful owners of the lands.
Appearing in court today March 21, 2024, brother of the Bole Wura one Alex and a sub chief of the Bole Traditional Area were ordered to be arrested by the court.
This angered the youth in Bole who began burning houses belonging to the Jahori’s in the Bole community. Several properties worth thousands of cedis have been burnt.
Speaking to the press, counsel for the Jahori Clan, Stephen Obeng Darko, said the plaintiff, who is the Bole Wura, is prevented from Making any act of interference in the land and people of Jahori.
He revealed that the court further maintained that what is currently prevailing is the judgement of October 27, 2021, which stated that everyone was to comply with the order.
