The Tema Traditional Council has announced to the general public, particularly, residents within the Tema Traditional Area, that this year’s customary ban on drumming and noise-making within the Tema Traditional Area will take effect from Friday, 26th April 2024 to Saturday, 18th May 2024.
The Council explained that during this period, burials and funerals are prohibited within the Traditional Area.
“Other activities that are banned include playing of music, drumming, and generally, noise-making,” the Council said in a statement.
The Council further stated that “For the avoidance of doubt, the Tema Traditional Area includes, Tema Newtown and all the communities, Ashaiman, Zeenu, Kubekro, Adigon, Saasabi, Klangon, Adjei Kojo, Sakumono and Adjeiman.”
The Council urged all persons within the above-mentioned areas to comply with the directive to avoid confrontations with representatives from the Council.
“All individuals and groups in the Traditional Area are respectfully entreated to bear with the council during this period and abide by the directive in order to forestall confrontations between representatives of the council and individuals or groups, as have occurred sometime in the past,” the statement concluded.
