The final is set to take place on Wednesday, March 20, at the University of Ghana Stadium in Legon, Accra. Eager to represent Ghana proudly, Amankwah remains focused on achieving a medal, though modest about his expectations, saying, “At the end of the day, I’m going to do what I can… My goal is to win, My goal is to come top three.”
Amankwah pursued his collegiate athletics career at the University of Alabama, where he established a school record and earned First Team All-American honours in the indoor 800m event.
Although he qualified for the 800m at the 2015 World Championships in Beijing, China, visa issues prevented him from competing. Additionally, he represented Ghana in the 4 × 400 meters relay at the 2015 African Games.
Amankwah further showcased his talents on the global stage by representing Ghana in the 800 meters at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
