He said the Ministry of Water Resources, Works and Housing and its key agencies such as the Water Resources Commission, Community Water and Sanitation Agency , Ghana Water Company Limited, Hydrological Services Division, Rent Control Division  and the Public Works Department would be strengthened to provide quality and affordable water to the people. 

Quality Role Ghana, a business consultancy firm, will initiate the event in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 30 June to 6 June 2013 and the climax it in Dubai from 27 October to 2 November 2013.

He appealed to them to develop love and a communal spirit with intercessory prayers for one another saying “the nation belongs to all of us and the generation to come so there is the need for a common goal of building a peaceful and a prosperous nation”.

The group made up of the Bank, Life Insurance, Collections, Logistics, Properties and Private Security,  in collaboration with United Way Ghana (an International Charity) de-wormed about a 1000 children and adults in the area at a total cost of about GH¢ 10,000.

Out of this, GH¢ 737,430,761 is from Government of Ghana (GOG), GH¢ 23,000,000 is ABFA, GH¢ 6,420,758 is IGF and GH¢ 58,965,650 is from  donors, Mr Seth Terkper, Ghana's Finance Minister has announced.

This was contained in his 2013 Budget read before Parliament in Accra on the theme:“sustaining Confidence in the Future of the Ghanaian Economy”.

This was contained in the annual budget policy and economic statement for the year 2013, presented by Mr Seth Terkper, Minister of Finance to Parliament on Tuesday.

Whilst the majority in Parliament have hailed the budget as a “pragmatic and realistic” vision to build an equitable society and a strong indication of the glowing performance of the country’s economy over that last year, the minority caucus have described the financial statement as “a journey to nowhere”.

The event is normally marked as statutory public Day and characterised by parades by school children, security personnel, workers and other identifiable bodies at the Black Stars Square,  in Accra and throughout the country.

He appealed to residents to have confidence in the personnel and provide them with needed information to track and arrest criminals in their communities.  

Mr Stephen Segbefia, the Regional sales officer of the company, who presented the drinks, said it was part of their social responsibility to partner government in all activities that would promote national cohesion and development.

“The government and the Municipal Assembly will continue to provide you with good drinking water, accessible roads and supply of electricity among others to ensure that you live in dignity”.

He said personnel who also condoned and connived with smugglers did that at their own risk and would be prosecuted when arrested.

Out of this, GH¢ 492,303,112 is from Government of Ghana, GH¢ 5,973,910 is Internally Generated Fund and GH¢ 77,332,000 is Donor.

He stressed that the planning units would help in transforming the Regional Coordinating Councils (RCC’s) into decentralised bodies with the capacity of utilising its human and financial resources to make informed decisions.

The legacy, he said would be pivoted around Information and Communication Technology, which is the modern driving force that could expedite the advancement and progress of the economy and other sectors of governance.

“Our efforts at achieving production efficiency, reliability and competitiveness will not achieve much if we do not expand, up-date and modernize our national social and economic infrastructure.

Mr Terkper said these figures represented 40.8 per cent of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2011 and 49.4 per cent of GDP by end December 2012.

At exactly 11.45 am the Finance Minister was called by Mr Edward Doe Adjaho, Speaker to present the statement under the theme: “Sustaining Confidence in the Future of the Ghanaian Economy“

“As part of effort to find solution to the TOR debt, government in 2010 made a payment of GH¢445 million to Ghana Commercial Bank to help reduce the debt and in March 2011, restructured the TOR debt by securitising the debt through the issue of medium term government bonds,” he added.
