The government yesterday took a giant step towards giving tax cuts to businesses and reducing the cost of doing business with the presentation of four tax-related bills to Parliament for amendment. Fire has ravaged more than 50 shops and makeshift accommodation structures of some residents at Odorkor Tipper in Accra. The fire which started around 10:30p.m. last Sunday, destroyed properties, including fridges, sewing machines and hair dryers, running into thousands of Ghana cedis. According to eyewitnesses, two persons who were caught in the fire at the time of the incident, sustained various degrees of injuries, and were receiving treatment.
Vice-Chairperson of National Democratic Congress (NDC), Anita Desoso has said the various campaign groups that were formed just before the 2016 general election for former President John Mahama contributed to the NDC’s defeat at last year’s polls. According to her, while the party structures could not perform to expectation as they lacked resources, the various campaign groups which managed to secure funding, failed to work to deliver victory for the party.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo says the government’s first budget presented to Parliament recently is the clearest signal of its commitment to place the private sector at the forefront of redeeming the economy and enhancing growth, progress and prosperity. “We have removed the many impediments there for businesses.
