The Judgement Debt Commission was on Wednesday told of how a prison officer, Mr Alfred Awusi, who was wrongfully dismissed from the Ghana Prison Service (GPS) in 1989, was paid GH¢5, 470 compensation in 2007. The Accra Circuit Court, on Wednesday, sentenced a farmer to 30 years’ imprisonment for robbing a taxi driver of his car at Miotso, near Accra. He pleaded not guilty to the charge of robbery but after full trial of the case, the court, presided over by Mr Francis Obiri, found him guilty and sentenced him accordingly. Efforts are still underway to find the missing person in Thursday’s helicopter crash 20 nautical miles off the coast of Takoradi, the Western Regional capital. Disaster struck Thursday when a helicopter carrying eight people crashed into the sea, about 20 nautical miles off the coast of Takoradi, killing four of them.
