The Accra Circuit Court, presided over by Mr Francis Obiri, yesterday remanded eight people in prison custody for allegedly robbing the Member of Parliament (MP) for Nkwanta South, Mr Gershon Gbediame, in his residence. They are William Odoi, Kabiru Seidu, Zebulon Anyeteye and Buabeng Kingsley. The others are Richard Mensah Ofori, Daniel Yemo Tetteh, Daniel Ashitey Amaah and Pennin, alias Aya. They pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy to rob and robbery and have been remanded in prison custody
The Academic Board of the University of Ghana has directed the university’s management to take legal action against the National Security Coordinator, Lt Col Larry Gbevlo-Lartey (retd), and his team for demolishing a tollbooth and a security post which were under construction at Legon. The controversy over the collection of road tolls at the University of Ghana may soon come to an end, with the Ministry of Roads and Highways having requested for a dialogue with the university to work out modalities for the payment of debts incurred by the university to maintain the roads on the campus. The ministry has, consequently, asked the authorities of the university to discontinue the collection of tolls, as the ministry has decided to absolve the university from its financial commitment
