Visiting Bechem United threw away a first-half lead to draw 1-1 with Legon Cities in their betPawa Premier League week five encounter played at the El-Wak Stadium, yesterday.
Defender Samuel Osei Kuffour blasted home the opener for the visitors on 15 minutes while substitute Frank Antwi drew level for the host on 78 minutes.
Bechem came into the game needing all three points to keep the fans cool after a week of agitation against the club’s coach, Koby Mensah.
And rightly so, they got a perfect start when Kuffour popped up to hit a powerful strike past goalkeeper Winfred Selorm Honu in post for Cities.
The home side regrouped and took the game to their opponents, creating some decent chances but failed to make it count.
In first half time added on, Aaron Essel was given the matching off orders for a second yellow card offence after a similar one in the 27th minute.
Nine minutes after the break, the hosts were also reduced to 10 men when Ebenezer Amegah was shown a straight red card for stamping Seth Kwadwo.
Substitute Frank Antwi restored parity on the 77th minute when he poked home the equaliser against the run of play.
Cities stepped up their game after the goal in search of the leader but the Hunters held on resolutely to return to base with a point.
