New Asante Kotoko head coach Eric Tinkler says he is proud to join one of Africa’s biggest football clubs after officially taking charge of the Ghana Premier League giants.
The South African was unveiled as Kotoko’s new head coach as the club begins preparations for the 2026/27 season, becoming the latest experienced coach to lead the Porcupine Warriors.
Reacting to his appointment, Tinkler described the opportunity as a privilege and praised Kotoko’s rich heritage and reputation across the continent.
“I am honoured and excited to join one of Africa’s most storied football institutions. Asante Kotoko’s rich history, passion for success and ambition for development is not hidden in Africa.”
The former Orlando Pirates, SuperSport United and Cape Town City coach said he was delighted to become part of the club’s history at a significant moment.
“I feel proud to be associated with this great club at this historical moment.”
Tinkler arrives with an impressive coaching résumé, having guided Orlando Pirates to the CAF Champions League final and SuperSport United to the CAF Confederation Cup final, while also winning several domestic trophies.
Before moving into coaching, he captained South Africa, earned 48 international caps and featured at the 1998 FIFA World Cup after helping Bafana Bafana win the 1996 Africa Cup of Nations.
He will work closely with Director of Football Stanley Menzo as Kotoko seek to challenge strongly in the upcoming campaign.
