Ghana Football Association (GFA) president Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku has led tributes to Dominic Frimpong following the tragic death of the Berekum Chelsea winger after a reported armed robbery attack.
In a message of condolence issued on behalf of the GFA, Okraku expressed deep sorrow over the incident and extended sympathies to the club, the player’s family, and all affected.
“On behalf of the Ghana Football Association, I extend my deepest condolences to the leadership, players, technical team and entire family of Berekum Chelsea following the tragic passing of Dominic Frimpong,” the statement read.
The GFA president described the moment as painful not only for the club but for Ghana football as a whole, stressing that the association shares in the grief of the bereaved.
He also assured Berekum Chelsea of the FA’s full support, revealing that the association is engaging relevant authorities to ensure justice is served while taking steps to improve safety for clubs.
The statement comes amid growing concern over security for teams travelling for domestic matches, following the shocking attack.
Frimpong’s death has sent shockwaves across the football community, with tributes continuing to pour in for the 20-year-old, regarded as one of the emerging talents in the league.
“May Dominic’s soul rest in perfect peace,” Okraku concluded.
