Eleven Wonders’ difficult return to the Ghana Premier League continued on Sunday as they fell 2-1 to Medeama at the UG Sports Stadium in Legon, despite putting up one of their more competitive displays of the season.
The home side created early pressure and later earned a penalty that could have changed the game, but Medeama goalkeeper Felix Kyei produced a superb save to keep them out. Medeama made the hosts pay just before the interval, with Godknows Dzakpasu scoring on the stroke of halftime.
Wonders regrouped well and found a deserved equaliser in the second half through Daniel Lomotey Agbloe, giving them renewed hope of turning the match around. That momentum, however, was short-lived. Substitute Nana Kofi Babil restored Medeama’s lead in the 79th minute with a composed finish.
The statistics reflected a closely contested match. Eleven Wonders recorded eight shots to Medeama’s six and produced four efforts on target, double that of their opponents. Possession remained evenly split.
Despite their competitive showing, Wonders remain bottom of the table. Medeama move to the top after another efficient performance.
