American rap legend Snoop Dogg has been selected as one of the final torchbearers for the Olympic flame before the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics.
The 52-year-old artist will carry the torch through the streets of Saint-Denis, a northern suburb of Paris and home to the Stade de France Olympic Stadium, on Friday.
This leg of the journey marks the penultimate stage of the flame’s relay before it reaches its final destination at the Eiffel Tower.
Snoop Dogg, whose real name is Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., hails from Los Angeles, the host city for the 2028 Summer Games. Joining him in Saint-Denis will be other distinguished torchbearers, including French actress Laetitia Casta and French rapper MC Solaar.
Since beginning its journey in May, the Olympic torch has traversed France, carried by a diverse group of notable figures.
Among them are former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, Formula One driver Charles Leclerc, and actress Halle Berry.
The Paris 2024 Summer Olympics will take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
