Ex-Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kwesi Nyantakyi has expressed interest in taking up the role of Sports Minister should the New Patriotic Party retain power.
With barely eight months to go in the highly anticipated 2024 General elections, the NPP spearheaded by flag bearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia aims to break the eight-year jinx of power since the emergence of the fourth republic.
They, however, face formidable oppositions in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as well as other independent candidates.
Nyantakyi who recently declared his political ambitions to contest in the upcoming by-election in the Ejisu constituency is hopeful of victory and an eventual appointment as Sports Minister.
“If NPP comes and they make me a Sports Minister, I may consider it but if the NDC comes and they consider me, it will be difficult,” he told Onua TV.
The former football administrator is hopeful of becoming a lawmaker representing the Ejisu constituency following the demise of the incumbent John Kumah.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is expected to open nominations for the Ejisu primary later today, Tuesday, April 7.
Mr Nyantakyi says delegates have resolved to pick the forms on his behalf.
