Singer Cina Soul spoke to TV3 New Day about her journey to becoming one of Ghana’s core female musicians. Cina said she had to ask herself some hard questions so as to find the unique voice Ghanaians have come to love so much.
“I think finding your sound or what makes you unique is always the hardest part because there are a million artistes around the world. Even in Ghana, there are thousands, so what will make you stand out?”
Continuing the conversation with Adowa Noella, Cina noted finding your identity in music does not mean that one is boxing themselves and stifling their talent.
She explained that over the years, she has discovered different personalities associated with her voice as she records in the studio. “It’s like at every point, you find a different type or different side of you. Ojorley was a totally different side of me for my very first EP… I was like, wait, this is another side of me I didn’t know existed.”
Cina also spoke candidly about choosing music as a career. One of the challenges mentioned was not being financially ready because she was still a student whilst dabbling in her artistry.
As a staunch Christain, Cina Soul said she doesn’t believe in being too consumed by fame to forget her religious roots. She pointed out that the battle gets tough when you get exposed and popular. And she does not joke with her prayers.
Cina Soul i s hosting a pre-valentine show, One Night Only, at the Marriott Hotel for the exclusive intentional couples tomorrow, February 11, at 7 pm prompt. Don’t miss it.
