Asante Kotoko secured an impressive 3-0 win over city rivals King Faisal in the Ghana Premier League match which was played on Monday evening at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
The Porcupine Warriors scored three goals in the first Kumasi derby of the season, condemning King Faisal to a fourth straight defeat, dropping them to the bottom of the table.
Ugandan striker Steven Mukwala was involved in all the goals. In the 10th minute, he scored from close range.
Mukwala was then fouled in the box, resulting in a penalty which Kotoko captain Richard Boadu converted to double the lead in the 27th minute.
Mukwala set up defender Nicholas Mensah for the third goal, which he scored from inside the box in the 56th minute.
The victory moves Kotoko up to fifth place, three points behind leaders Aduana Stars. Kotoko, however, have one outstanding game.
